Humans have always looked to the stars and wondered what is there. As soon as technology moved forward, we built telescopes to get a closer look. Then, we became more advanced and could design rockets that could go into the sky. Since the 1950s, humans have explored space by getting closer to it. From walking on the Moon to having a small group of astronauts always in orbit around the Earth. We have built robots and probes that have landed on distant planets and continue to explore what lies beyond our own Solar System.

This section looks at some of humankind's achievements in helping to explore space in person and by machines.
