Go Observing

Our Go Observing tool allows teachers and students to request and download images from the Liverpool Telescope.

It has been designed to simplify the process of scheduling observations on a robotic telescope, so that users can request observations with just a few clicks of the mouse.

The observations on offer come from a target database of several hundred pre-selected objects, which were chosen to be interesting, suitably bright and to fit nicely into the field-of-view of the CCD detector.

Using the Go Observing system means that users do not have to worry about the following technical issues:

  • whether your chosen object is visible at that time of year or at what point during the night.
  • where to point the telescope at the time selected for your observation.
  • what filters to use, and how long to expose the camera for.
  • whether the Moon will interfere with the observation.
